A FEW REALLY GOOD BOOKS

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle

Women and Money by Suze Orman

The Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay - if you can get past the darkness of Dexter being a sociopath and a serial killer these are the kind of books you can't put down and they're funny

The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich - light reading and, sometimes, laugh outloud funny. The best ones are at the first of the series. - there are 14 books I think.

All of Michael Connely's books are good. I like his Harry Bosch series.

Other writers - mostly mystery writers - include James Lee Burke, Lee Child, and Robert Crais.

I heard someone talking to Jodi Picoult on the radio and I may try one of her books. I understand she has written a lot of novels.

NEW USE FOR GOOD OLD VICK'S

I caught a cold sometime this week. With all the sniffling and blowing and sneezing and coughing sleep was hard to come by. Not to long ago I e-mailed all my children and friends a way to stop coughing at night. It's so simple! All you do is rub Vick's Vapo Rub on the bottom of your feet before you go to bed, put socks on and in 15 minutes the coughing goes away. The effect lasted all night! I also experienced a reduction in the congestion.

The explanation for this effect is that we readily absorb stuff through our feet. If you don't believe it rub some garlic on the bottom of your feet. In 15 minutes you will begin to taste the garlic.

When I think of all the hours I've spent awake with coughing children I really want to share this simple remedy. I hope you will try it.

EASY ENOUGH

My daughter-in-law sent me an announcement of her blog. Truth is I don't even know what a blog is but I decided to find her site and see what it said. In looking for her site I ended up here - with a blog of my own. Easy enough. I just kept thinking maybe if I do what they tell me I will find her blog. Haven't found it yet but--I have a blog of my own. Easy enough.

What the heck is a blog? I've heard the word for a long time. I've heard definitions which meant nothing to me and I've heard explanations without any clarification. So here I am, listening to the rain, and the thunder in the distance. Surely I've got better things to do than this; maybe not. I still want to find my daughter-in-laws blog. That seems important enough even if it is not easy enough.

So here I am! Blogging. It seems a lot like that knot my sons had to learn in scouts. As determined as I was to learn what they learned I never quite got that one knot (the one where the rabbit runs around the tree and into the hole). Someday I'm going to need to use that knot and I won't know how to do it. Yep. The same a blogging. Now, off to find my daughter-in-law's blog site.
